FUCK BUTTONS-“Street Horrrsing”

Okay, so I’m not sure what the fuck is going on, but I seem to be finding nothing but music I really dig lately. But the Fuck Buttons are an exception. This CD wasn’t one I just really dug. It literally knocked me flat on my ass and left me gasping for breath. Street Horrrsing is a little less than fifty minutes of noise, screams, random sounds, fuzz, keyboards . . . A wall of sound generated by two skinny looking geeks from Bristol.

Don’t be turned off by the name (I was). The band is not disgusting or filthy, and their music can be played for any age group (but I don’t imagine it’s for everyone). Imagine being on a sailboat, on a gentle ocean, but on deck Four Tet is high on crank beating Trent Reznor on the kneecaps with an iron pipe wrapped in marshmellows, with Yanni at the rudder, getting blown by Enya, politely asking them to sit down so he can see before crashing into that oncoming ocean liner. It’s new age with tribal industrial overdubs. It’s the beginning and end of music.

For an mp3, it’s hard. Almost all of the songs top 7 minutes in length, and I don’t want to risk being a part of something that might lead to all the tracks being available, because there’s a sparse few of them on the record. Every song is a symphony. So I’m just posting the first three-and-a-half minutes of one song, so you can get the experience. Other than that, I’m sure you can stream it on their website or at some myspace shit page, but you really need to take my word for it, track down the album from ATP recordings, and buy it. This is truly, truly amazing, and a brief sample doesn’t do this revelatory album justice.

It’s like nothing else out there.

i have to say this is also one of my new no alarm surprises. i was blown away by how well they used droney noise and strange static to make this a very easy to listen to affair.

    A+ for sho!
