RADIUS-“Neighborhood Suicide” and BAND OF HEATHENS
The Secret Life of Sound label presents an instrumental sample-based album akin to the works of J Dilla and MF DOOM. Madlib. Chicago’s Radius makes the kind of hip hop music beds that can stand alone. They’re supposedly based on the city of Chicago, but since I’m not from there, I can’t speak to that. All I know is . . . Good stuff.
BAND OF HEATHENS
I also thought I’d turn you on to a self-released album by a country band, The Band of Heathens. They’re a little more country than Americana–but it’s real country, not that Garth Brooks shit. Anyhoo, I thought I’d give them a mention, even if it’s not generally the kid of music I listen to.
